Alice cycles from Khartoum to Victoria Falls - a journey through LINE

Our senior location intelligence analyst Alice is on a two-month long cycle journey from Khartoum to Victoria falls, and because we’re a sucker for maps here at Emu Analytics, we are mapping her journey in the Location Insights Explorer!

To jazz things up, we thought we would map some interesting facts about the different countries Alice is cycling through. You might learn something new, as well as see how easy and engaging it is to map a variety of cool location data in LINE.

Alice has just finished the first leg of her journey through Sudan:

Many people believe that the country with the most pyramids is Egypt, but with over 200 pyramids it is in fact Sudan. The Nubian pyramids were built by the rulers of the ancient Kushite kingdoms.

Our map in LINE for Sudan shows the approximate location of some of those pyramids, based on satellite imagery. Follow this link to explore the individual location of the pyramids:

Alice is now on her way towards Kenya, cycling through all of Ethiopia:

Did you know that Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa and is also the second most populous?

In the early 2000s Ethiopia was one of the poorest countries in the world and had the highest poverty rate.

Our map in LINE shows GDP growth of countries across the world. Ethiopia has one of the fastest growing economies in the world at 7.4% in 2019. Follow this link to see more:

Alice is currently cycling on towards Zambia, and we will check in again when she has put the next leg of her journey behind her.
