The Challenge

A GREEN COUNCIL, WITH HIGH EV UPTAKE

Oxfordshire County Council is a highly innovative and forward-thinking council and one of the leading local government organisations in the roll out of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers to support a green, carbon-cutting agenda. Within their county they have one of the highest uptakes of EVs compared to the rest of the country and are putting in place several schemes to meet the current and predicted demand from their communities.

The county itself is made up of a varied mix of rural and urban areas, posing a challenge in terms of both the scale and complexity of an EV charger rollout strategy.

The council wants to make sure that they are meeting the needs of all their residents, and therefore are required to consider a large number of demographic, environmental and infrastructure input. This data is multi-sourced, with different file formats and structure and with different geographic factors to deal with.

The Solution

QUICK AND EASY-TO-USE MAPPING VISUALISATION

Emu Analytics have deployed their cloud-based Location Insights Explorer (LINE) software platform to allow Oxfordshire County Council to quickly and easily visualise multiple location-based datasets to inform their Electric Vehicle charger rollout strategy.

Combined with some unique analysis on EV charger property suitability from Emu Analytics, the Council now have a powerful proposition that allows them to interrogate candidate areas and determine the complexity and priority of charger rollouts.

Using LINE’s data editing tool and simple file upload capability, the Council are easily able to work with location data. And as LINE is only licensed once, at an organisation level, all of the Council’s users can easily share and access this information, even if they aren’t technical.

“The LINE platform and the analysis work that Emu Analytics conducted for us is proving to be a very useful tool, helping us to test ideas and focus resources in our work to transition to EVs in Oxfordshire.”
